We'll have a 4-ton heat pump. Here's a pretty good overview: http://www.informedbuilding.com/Geothermal/Main16/Types-of-Geothermal-Ground-Loops/.<br />Someday I hope to install a solar array to power the heat pump, which would give us virtually free heating and cooling.JimSachshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02360679433809522789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3749495035157758785.post-73524382729179025562010-12-04T17:06:56.423-08:002010-12-04T17:06:56.423-08:00So how does one size a geothermal grid and what is...So how does one size a geothermal grid and what is entailed with the installation of itAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3749495035157758785.post-53797620395343095852010-12-04T10:33:03.431-08:002010-12-04T10:33:03.431-08:00Probably a wise thing to do. - Some years back a f...Probably a wise thing to do. - Some years back a friend of mine moved into a newly built house, on a previously green-field site. At the time everything was fine. But it transpired that the site developer had disturbed some ancient land drains that had been in existence across the fields for many years. - The housing development was on a hillside, and when he had need to go under the wooden floor to inspect a problem, he found the whole space was awash with water to within a few inches of the floor joists. - The disturbed land drainage was being redirected into his under-floor space, instead of being drained down the hillside. - It was a major project to get the problem corrected.Cliffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05720295038525381773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3749495035157758785.post-71954552621884430962010-12-04T09:36:41.310-08:002010-12-04T09:36:41.310-08:00Exactly. As they were filling up the sub-basement ...Exactly. As they were filling up the sub-basement with gravel, I was wondering the same thing - is there any way to use that space? But then I realized that it would probably just collect water and cause more problems.JimSachshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02360679433809522789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3749495035157758785.post-33579385328817279742010-12-04T04:52:09.666-08:002010-12-04T04:52:09.666-08:00Ah.
